Our Story

My passion for wine started my sophomore year of college — I loved it so much I ended up getting my professional certificate in Global Wine Studies. I have worked in the wine industry on and off for almost 10 years and l always come back to it! On the game side of things, I have always enjoyed having game nights with friends or attending trivia nights! When I got married, I even started playing Dungeons and Dragons with my husband and our friends.

I have always dreamed of opening my own wine business. Brooke and I have been wanting to start a business since we moved to Chelan together, but couldn’t quite figure out what until Liam brought up opening a board game AND wine bar! Our goal was to create a space for locals and tourists that was welcoming, cozy, and reliable.

I moved to Chelan in 2021 and started working in the wine industry and event planning business. I’ve always loved wine and there’s something even more special about working in the wine business itself!

My sister and I have always dreamed of running our own business together. After working alongside each other at a winery for over a year and a half we got a taste for what it was like to have a place of our own in the wine industry. We decided then that we wanted to begin plotting our future bottle shop. Our husbands have a love for gaming and brought up the idea of combining the two, which in turn led to The Cove.

I don’t have a specific varietal but I tend to love red wine over white! I love how my taste buds are constantly evolving the more and more wine I taste.

As a kid, Gameboys and card games were my favorite. As I matured, my love for gaming never wavered but my eyes were opened to the vast world of tabletop RPG’s and millions of board games of all kinds. Now, as an adult, I’ve grown to enjoy a glass of vino or two or a beer while playing these games!

To me The Cove is a place where you go to relax with your friends and family. While relaxing, why not play a board game or two and create new memories together at a safe place?

I grew up playing Chess, Monopoly, Candy Land and tons of other games with my grandparents and siblings. While on active duty, I rediscovered my passion for board games, hosting a number of game nights with friends and playing numerous games I had never even heard of before.

My love for wine started with my grandfather and it continues to grow now that I'm married to the Cove's own Sip Sorceress, Ashtyn, who makes sure my wine knowledge is as vast as possible!

When I left the Marine Corps, I applied for countless jobs, worked a few others, and generally felt like there was something else for me out there. I never felt fully satisfied with what I was doing. I felt stuck. After some soul-searching (and a lot of walking), I realized that if I couldn't find the right career for me, I would create it. And so, we came up with this crazy idea to start a wine and game lounge.
